The All-Party Oireachtas Committee on the Constitution,

Fourth Floor, Phoenix House

7-9 Leinster St.,

Dublin 2.

Dear Committee Members,

So you want to change the FAMILY as presently documented in the Constitution, to cater for gay/lesbian couples and also to redefine the role of mothers in the home among other changes. What is wrong with the present definition of the FAMILY, which has existed for centuries past?

The FAMILY of man and woman ordained under God’s Law and the natural law to love and respect each and to rear children is without argument the very cornerstone of our country. The Constitution of 1937 was so wise in its Articles 40 and 41; they safe guard any tampering, now being envisioned. I would not be far wrong in suggesting the pressure to do this is coming from the EU bosses.

If gay/lesbian couples wish to co-habit that is their choice, but no, do not define their union as marriage nor do I wish to belittle such people. Marriage of man and woman is the only sane state for the well-being of society. Please keep it safe.

The State should do much more for mothers who choose to stay at home, and please cancel the most unjust extra taxation on single income families

Yours sincerely,

Jim and Kitty O’Sullivan.
